The Association of MBAs (AMBA) announced the winners of itsMBA Student of the Year Award,MBA Innovation AwardandMBA Entrepreneurial Venture AwardLondon yesterday.at its Gala Dinner in
th Celebrating its 45 anniversary as an international accreditation and membership organisation, AMBA honoured its accredited business schools and MBA students for their contribution to MBA innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship with the three annual awards.
TheMBA Student of the Year Awardwas given to Husameldin Elnasri from Lancaster University Management School, INSEAD was honoured with theMBA Innovation Awardfor its Sci-Tech Commercialiser MBA and Cathal Brady a graduate from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School won theMBA Entrepreneurial Venture Award.
"These awards give us the opportunity to reward the MBA students and business schools who are making a difference with their MBA," said Vanessa Harwood-Whitcher, Chief Operating Officer, Association of MBAs. "We congratulate Lancaster University Management School on theirMBA Student of the Year, INSEAD on receiving the MBA Innovation Awardand Cathal Brady nominated by UCD School of Business for winning theMBA Entrepreneurial Ventureaccolade.
"Our accredited business schools continue to invest in excellence and these awards give AMBA the opportunity to shine a light on the best demonstration of innovation, leadership and entrepreneurial spirit and innovation coming from MBA students, graduates and business schools," Vanessa Harwood-Whitcher added.
TheMBA Student of the Year, Husameldin Elnasri began his career as a veterinary surgeon then moved to the corporate sector working for an oil company in Sudan where he managed a CSR project to develop an appropriate livestock development andcommunity-based animal health care programme. He joined the Lancaster MBA programme as a step towards his aspiration to set up a business or social enterprise in his war-torn homeland of Sudan.
INSEAD received theMBA Innovation Awardfor its Sci-Tech Commercializer MBA - an innovation launched by the INSEAD Centre for Entrepreneurship inJanuary 2012. The programme matches MBA students with scientists to work on the commercialisation of technological innovations. The teams go through a customised set of bootcamps, workshops and courses during the ten month INSEAD M BA.
TheMBA Entrepreneurial Venture Awardwas won by Cathal Brady from Ultan Technologies, a company that develops software products for the utility industry. An MBA graduate from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School won the award for demonstrating entrepreneurial motivation in his development of a sound and innovative concept and identifying a niche in the market that met the needs of the business world.
A panel of judges from business education, management and investment judged each award.
