One-stop-shopping: 300 supplier agreements in one place

Greenland Contractors at Thule Air Base are now centralising their procurements and Supply Chains with more than 300 suppliers in one place - at Arctic Import situated at the Port of Aalborg, North Denmark.

Managing director Allan Frost, Arctic Import, says: "The agreement implies that Greenland Contractors' procurements from more than 300 different suppliers are gathered in one place, at Arctic Import.

Everything from food, oil, tires, IT equipment and catering equipment - to consumer goods needed on a daily basis on the base."

Benefits: The base saves time and money

The benefits for Greenland Contractors are obvious: simple and efficient one-stop-shopping saves the organisation a significant amount of work dealing with each supplier individually - and this minimises the time spent immensely. "The procurement processes become better, faster and more efficient, because all purchase orders and thus the complex data flow and logistics will be assembled at Arctic Import, who is responsible for all supplies being delivered in the right place at the right time and without mistakes and losses", Allan Frost explains.

Smart Purchasing: Cost-effective procurements as part of a huge pool

There are huge cost benefits and volume savings for Greenland Contractors with all purchases to Thule Air Base forming part of the much larger purchasing pool of Arctic Import. "With Arctic Import's total purchase volume, we ensure that the base purchases at favourable prices without compromising the quality, durability or reliability of supply", Allan Frost emphasises.

Greenland: One of the world's most demanding supply chain markets

At present moment, Arctic Import services customers in the North Atlantic, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Svalbard, northern Norway and in particular Greenland - both to Greenlandic, Danish and international companies.

The supply chains which the company, situated in Aalborg, handles are among the world's most demanding due to the Arctic climate.

Greenland is 2,166,086 km2 - of which only 410,449 km2 is free of ice - one of the world's most sparsely populated areas.

Allan Frost explains:" We have the advantage of more than 35 years of experience in delivering vital supplies to the North Atlantic and Greenland, thus we can always anticipate and remove obstacles in the supply chain". Arctic import employs approx. 120 employees in three countries.

Opens new opportunities for companies within Offshore, Ship/Camp Supply, Oil and Mining Exploration

"We receive very good feedback on our Supply Chain Management concept, because the concept adds value for customers in the inaccessible North Atlantic and Arctic regions. Every delivery is critical - nothing must be missing and timely delivery is essential," Allan Frost says.

Arctic Import has developed the Supply Chain Management Concept over the years to match the needs and requirements that are essential for public and private companies, as well as customers within offshore, camps and mining, oil/mining exploration and permanently expatriated vessels.

In Greenland, Arctic Import is "A-member" of the network CSR Greenland (Corporate social Responsibility) and supports and sponsors amongst others children and youngsters. The company currently has 80 local employees with Greenlandic background - at the same time, Arctic Import pays corporate tax of the activities in Greenland, thus giving something back to the community where the earnings are coming from.
