Suas Educational Development was originally founded in 2002 by students from Trinity College Dublin who believed that the best way of making a difference was through education.Each year since, the Volunteer Programme has given young students an opportunity to support the education of children in schools that serve some of the most marginalised communities inIndia. Acting as teaching assistants in local schools the volunteers have a valuable opportunity to develop their personal and professional skills, such as teamwork, leadership and planning, while learning from this intercultural experience. Successful screenings have already taken place inMumbai,Bangaloreand Chennai. The university has a long and proud history as an internationally focused university and has recently launched sixteen postgraduate scholarships for Indian students.The scholarships are being offered in any of the university's taught masterscourses offeredin Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, Computer Science, Engineering,Mathematics and Health Sciences. Scholarships are valued at €3,000 each for one year.The university's Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is offering five scholarships in its taught postgraduate courses.The Faculty of Health Sciences is also offering five scholarships in its taught postgraduate courses and the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Science is offering four scholarships in its taught postgraduate courses. Additionally, two postgraduate research scholarships valued at €6,000 per year are being offered for three years for full-time study on a PhD programme.
