Transaero Airlines Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Regular Flights to Israel

PR Newswire

Transaero Airlines celebrates in November 2013 the 20th anniversary of its regular flights from Moscow to Tel Aviv.

Israel is a special international destination for Transaero and has a historic significance. It was on November 5, 1991 that Transaero launched its operations with the first flight to Tel Aviv. Transaero became a scheduled carrier on the Moscow-Tel Aviv route after the international agreement on air transportation between Russia and Israel was signed in 2003.

For more than two decades Transaero has contributed to the development of the relations between Russia and Israel in various fields such as politics, economics, culture, tourism, sport and social contacts. Over the past 20 years the airline carried more than 2,400,000 passengers on this route, more than a half of them after 2008.

Transaero is known among its passengers for hospitality and high service standards as well as for security and safety. Even during complicated times of military tensions in the region, Transaero never stopped operating flights to Tel Aviv, which during some periods meant that it was the only foreign airline performing scheduled flights to Israel.

The flights to Israel were indeed where Transaero first introduced all of its innovative services. This winter season Transaero launches operations of Boeing 737-800 on this route with the unique Imperial cabin, a comfortable business and economy class cabin (seat pitch in economy class is 86 cm).

Transaero provides its passengers with a convenient schedule on the route. Flights from Tel Aviv to Moscow are operated 21 times a week and land in two Moscow airports: Domodedovo and Vnukovo, which is also the closest airport to the Moscow city center. In this way passengers have the opportunity to be flexible with their schedule, whether they are planning a direct flight to the Russian capital or need a connecting flight to further cities in Russia as well as worldwide including to destinations in North America, South East Asia and CIS countries.

Throughout these twenty years Transaero has been glad to host as passengers on this route famous politicians and celebrities, prominent scientists and religious leaders, as well as business representatives and numerous tourists. Israel plays a special role in Transaero's charity projects. Specifically, WWII veterans living in Israel have the opportunity of a free flight to Russia every year on May 9th, when Victory Day is celebrated in Russia.

Olga Pleshakova, CEO Transaero Airlines, said: "On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of flights to Tel Aviv I am delighted to thank our passengers for choosing Transaero and our partners in Israel for fruitful and efficient cooperation. Transaero has always seen its goal as providing a reliable bridge between our countries and will always hold to this mission."
