Politique étrangère - Année 1992 - Volume 57 - Numéro 2 - Pages 323-328The Aspirations and Dilemnas of the Hungarian Foreign Poiicy vis-à-vis the Yugoslav Crisis, by Laszlo Poti The change of regime in Hungary meant a comprehensive and consistant negation of the previous situation. The new directions in the foreign policy are : the reintegration to the world, first of all, to Western Europe ; the deorientation from the Soviet line ; the assertion of the national interest. This policy includes two main trends : Europeanization ― which aims at the political and economic integration to Europe ― and renationalization ― which considers national sovereignty as priority n° 1. The main guideline for Hungary's foreign policy during the Yougoslav crisis has been its strop Europeanization inner current. The well-balanced policy of being Europe-conform and asserting the national interest has passed one of its hardest examination.
