How to install Sophos Anti-Virus

Before completing the Sophos Anti-Virus installation, you must be sure that there will

not be a conflict with any current anti-virus programs currently installed on your

machine. If you are using an anti-virus program other than McAfee (versions 4.5, 4.51,

7.0. 7.1, 8.0i) or Symantec (versions 7.5, 7.6, 8.0, 8.1) then refer to the section at the end

of these instructions entitled “Removing other anti-virus programs.”

Step 1: Download Sophos Anti-Virus Installer

Point your web browser to

https://www.nmsu.edu/software/Users/login.php

Use your

NMSU

username and

password

There will be a prompt for a username and password. Log in using your NMSU

email ID and password.

A new page with a

list of programs you may download will load

Scroll down on the list until you see Sophos Anti-Virus. You should choose the

version appropriate for your operating system. If you have trouble determining

your operating system, contact the help desk.

Click on the link to download. When prompted about whether to “Save” or “Run”

the program,

choose “Save”
