LA PARTICULE JAPONAISE GA : UNE SYNTAXE, UNE SEMANTIQUE Xavier Cornillier Université du Québec à Montréal             Résumé   Parmi toutes les questions reliées à la linguistique japonaise, le comportement de la particule ga , est un phénomène particulièrement exploré. Cela n’est pas un hasard puisque l’emploi de cette particule, marqueur casuel du nominatif, est relié à beaucoup de constructions qui demeurent problématiques, par exemple, les phrases à multiples sujets (où plusieurs syntagmes nominaux peuvent être marqués par ga ) et la topicalisation (certains syntagmes marqués peuvent jouer un rôle topique). Afin de répondre à ces questions, de nombreux auteurs adoptent une théorie multifonctionnelle selon laquelle la particule ga peut, dans certaines structures à prédicats exceptionnels, marquer l’accusatif ou le génitif d’une part, et marquer le topique de l’autre. Dans cette recherche, nous adoptons un point de vue différent puisque nous démontrons dans la première partie que la particule ga  n’a qu’un seul rôle syntaxique, soit marquer le nominatif. De la même manière, nous montrerons dans la deuxième partie que la fonction topique du SN affecté par ga ne varie pas puisqu’elle dépend à la fois de la structure de la phrase et du prédicat.   Abstract   Among all the questions relating to Japanese linguistics, the behaviour of the particle ga is a phenomenon of particular interest. This is no accident since the use of this particle, a nominative case marker, is tied into many constructions that remain problematic; for example, phrases with multiple subjects (where many noun phrases may be marked by ga ) and topicalisation (certain marked phrases can play a topical role). In order to answer these questions, numerous authors adopt a multi-functional theory according to which the particle ga  can, in certain exceptional predicate structures, mark the accusative or the genitive on the one hand, and mark the topic on the other. In this research, a different point of view is adopted since it is demonstrated in the first part that the particle ga has only one syntactic role: that of nominative marker. Furthermore, it will be shown in the second part that the topical function of the NP affected by ga  does not vary since it depends on both the sentence structure and the predicate at the same time.
