These alternatives are geared towards assisting schools in developing and using assessment techniques and tools to achieve the educational objectives of the Division of Accountability and Achievement Resources’ Periodic Assessment Program. In addition to selecting the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System or DRA, schools also have the option to continue to administer ECLAS-2. The Department of Education provides all necessary materials to schools administering ECLAS-2. Schools that choose to administer Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessments or DRA in lieu of receiving ECLAS-2 materials received a funding allocation to help defray the costs of the alternate assessment programs.
