In the 1960s and 70s the solitary place to see either experimental movie or foreign film was on a college campus, as part of a course or special screening series. Individual customary films were to be found on television or the theaters. Then in 1984 MTV (Music Television) debuted over cable. It pilfered a half-century of rarely seen video art and experimental picture forms to be reprocessed into album ads. Today, software is replacing hardware in all motion picture and video production, and software is soft. Software is flexible.

High definition capacity video and flexible forms, such as projection and scaleable displays, have opened up the cinema prison and broken vacant the box. Video art in galleries is rarely confined within rectangular screens presently. If it is, the rectangle is likely on the floor or looming overhead. Other ways are now possible. Other ways of show can at present grow. It has never been superior practical and feasible to be your own normal.
