Water Damage Restoration Checklist

When a water damage disaster happens, it's important to take the necessary steps to protect your home and ensure the safety of your family. We have compiled a list of steps to take during such an emergency. Remove people and pets from the flooded area. If the water contains sewage, it can be especially dangerous.

If the water damage was caused by a pipe inside of your home, shut off the main water line.

Turn off electricity at the main breaker box.

Contact All Pro Services to begin the water damage restoration process.

Contact your insurance agent and let them know you'll be working with All Pro Services.

Capture photographs of the damaged area.

Open doors and windows, if possible, to provide ventilation until the electricity gets restored.

Place barriers between furniture legs and carpeting to prevent stains. You can use plates, unstained wood, or aluminum foil.

Remove family heirlooms, valuables, and other collectibles from the home if they could be damaged by the water.

• Remove as much of the water as possible, by using a mop and bucket. There are a few things you should never do during a water damage emergency in your home.

Do not turn on light fixtures if water damage has occurred in the ceiling.

Do not enter a room with standing water if the electricity is still active.

Do not leave books or paper products in the path of the water. Remove all these materials to a high, dry location or remove them from the home completely.
