In order to support the specii c needs of these scientii c and other communit ies the consortium will interconnect the largest European Service Grid infrastructure (EGEE) with exist-ing Desktop Grid (DG) systems in a strong partnership with the EGEE consortium. Project acronym: EDGeSService Grids (SG) are more lexible and can accommodate a broade r variety of applica-tions than Desktop Grids, however, their setup and maintenance require more ef orts, Project n°: RI-211727highly skilled IT specialists, and dedicated resources.

In order to meet tese objectves te project w connect Desktop Grd based cty Grds, scoo grds and enterprse grds wt EGEE.

Objectives: • Identify and involve new scientic communities that need large number of comput- ng resources beyond te sze o exstng servce grds, as we as new type o user and resource provder communtes beyond te scentic communtes ncudng ctzens, scoo students, and company empoyees. • Provide Grid application development interfaces and tools for the new scientic user communtes n order to adapt ter appcatons or te EDGeS e-nrastructure. • Provide new trust mechanisms for the integrated e-infrastructure. • Establish international collaborations, procedures and standards for the integration o Servce Grds and Desktop Grds. • Contribute to the establishment of a sustainable Grid infrastructure in Europe by ntegratng exstng natona and nternatona servce grds and desktop grds.
