JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title:Print Services Manager Post No:ST6208 Department: Estatesand Facilities Location: LlandaffCampus Grades: 6 Salary: £31,020 £34,895 pa Hours: 37hours Tenure:PermanentAccountable to:Commercial Services Manager Accountable for:Print Studio Supervisors and AssistantsRole Summary: The Print Services Manager has responsibility for the delivery of high quality customer focused print services to university staff and students, and for the support and development of internal and external business to maximise income opportunities from these facilities and services.The role includes overall management of campus print studios which offer a range of specialist services and advice, and the network of self serve devices across each campus. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Tomanage and support the effective delivery of the Print Studio services. 2. Responsible,working in conjunction with the Commercial Services Manager, for the delivery of a high quality customer focused service, within a value for money environment and to achieve and exceed all financial targets. 3. Topromote a positive image of Cardiff Metropolitan University and develop good working relationships with all users of the university including clients and contractors. 4. Responsiblefor implementing and ensuring through regular monitoring, the adherence to all university and service specific procedures by all staff. 5. development. 6. To make a positive contribution to the Commercial Services Unit and Estates & Facilities in order to achieve both academic and commercial aims and objectives. 7. Analyseand report on business/operational elements, including evaluation of performance, identifying cost savings, strengths and weaknesses and opportunities for business and operational growth. Main Duties and Responsibilities: General a) Tomanage the cost effective operation of each campus Print Studio, including services, contracts, supplies and associated management information systems. b) Tolead future development of the service, in line with the requirements of the university, and sustainability and financial targets. c) Responsiblefor staff management issues including; recruitment and selection, staff development, performance and conduct. d) Accountabilityfor financial processes, procedures and achievement of financial targets within the service including; contribution to annual budget submissions, monthly income/expenditure performance, and periodic review of procedures to ensure compliance. e) Tooversee service level performance of suppliers and to identify and manage improvement where applicable. f) Toreport on the delivery of the service including the operational and financial performance and scope for development and improvement. g) Tocontribute to the development/update of procedures. h) Tobe responsible for the Health & Safety within the service including implementation and monitoring of service procedures and periodic reviews, and development of procedures and associated training to ensure compliance with relevant corporate policies and legislation. i) Tobe responsible for managing staff development, training and review, to ensure individual development meets operational requirements, aims and supports individual aspirations where applicable. Specific a) Tomaintain and keep up to date technical skills and proficiencies in relation to use and application of equipment in order to provide ‘hands on’ back up support as necessary.b) Organisation,management and delivery of print services to staff and students via a network of shops and distributed copiers (including Libraries). c) Organisationand support in conjunction with the Commercial Services Officer, of smartcard control and cost recovery solution used within all selfservice photocopying and printing areas. d) Responsiblefor the ordering and control of all stock used within the operation. e) Tocarry out routine benchmarking exercises to determine the type of service, pricing policies and standards offered by local competitors or other print providers offering similar facilities/services; to inform service

reviews. f) Towork closely with customers, holding regular meetings to review requirements and to ensure their current needs are met and to establish longer term requirements. g) Toestablish and maintain good customer relationships (both internal and external), to develop and improve the service to the customer. h) To develop advertising and promotional material, using a variety of media including web, to keep customers informed of the facilities/service and any special incentives. i) Toprovide central advice on the service and be aware of technological advances and the feasibility/opportunity for integration to existing structure. j) Toregularly meet, discuss and advise on business and operational performance of each unit with each respective team supervisor.Additional Information: These guidelines are provided to assist you in the performance of your contract.
