ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
SSppeecciiaall tthhaannkkss ttoo…… SSppeecciiaall tthhaannkkss ttoo……

I first would like to thank Dr. Larmet (Strasbourg) and Dr. Mormede (Bordeaux) as well
as Prof. Dr. Fischbach (Freiburg) and Prof. Dr. Aktories (Freiburg) for accepting to be
members of the jury of my thesis. My special thanks also to Prof. Dr. Fischbach for
accepting to be my thesis director at the Faculty of Biology at the University of
Freiburg.
I would like to thank the neuroscience association Neurex for their three years of
financial support and interest in my work. This work was additionally funded by the
European Doctoral College and the University of Freiburg.

I would also like to thank Prof. Will and Dr. Kelche as well as Prof. Starke and Prof.
Hein for welcoming me in their lab, respectively, in Strasbourg and Freiburg. They
offered me all the facilities necessary to realize this work.

My very special thanks go to Dr. Cassel, director of this project, for his engagement.
His patience and comprehensiveness, strong experience and extremely accurate view
on scientific research were indispensable for me during the last five years we worked
together.

I don’t forget the co-director of my project, Prof. Dr. Jackisch for our every-day
collaboration in the lab. I am very grateful for his numerous advices and his will to
share his long experience in the neuroscience research as well as for his great help in
all aspects of my work.

I would like to acknowledge Prof. Neumaier and all his team for our collaboration on the
‘virus project’.

I would also like to thank Dr. Leemhuis for his help on the confocal microscope. He
allowed me to have beautiful pictures of neurons!

I also take the opportunity to thank all the co-workers from the ‘anatomy lab’ from Prof.
Dr. Frotcher. Special thanks go to Ulrich, Imre, Margot, Shanting and Sandra who
shared with me their “cell culture lab” and a lot of essential advices.

I ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I would also like to thank all the persons of the group of Dr. Ort for offering a place in
their lab for the microinjections of the viral vector.

A special thank goes to all the persons in the different animal houses for the care they
gave to all the ‘small-cute-rats’…

I would also like to thank all my collaborators of the ex-LN2C in Strasbourg:
Alexandra(s), Alex, Anne, Brigitte, Catherine, Chantal, Christophe, Ekatarina, Erwan,
Hélène, Karin, Monique, Olivier, Patrick, Rodrigue, Sarah... I really enjoyed the time
spent during my DEA and my PhD. I especially thank Sami Ben Hamida for his
participation to the last experiment of this work, and the great time we had in Freiburg
even during the very long “injections days”. My very special thank goes to Julie Koenig
with whom I started my work. Our discussions always had positive issues in scientific
or non-scientific life. Of course, the time in the lab wouldn’t have been the same without
our laughing and relaxing moments…I wish you the very best for your future life, a lot
of success in science and a lot of happiness in your personal life!

I don’t forget my "lab girls" from Freiburg, Anja, Sanni, Katha and Franzi. I really
enjoyed our every-day life in the lab and all the moments spent there. The four years of
my time in Freiburg wouldn’t have been the same without our discussions, jokes and
ice creams!

toi !
