To the Rt Hon Donald J Trump President of the United States of America The Rt Hon Uzra Zeya Chargé d’Affaires U.S. Embassy th Paris-Orly, July 11 2017
Dear Mr President, You will visit France in the coming days. May I take this opportunity to say that it is a great and exceptional honour for the French people to welcome you to Paris, reflecting the longstanding and very friendly relationship between our two nations. So welcome to France Mister President ! th th By Thursday 13 July and Bastille Day on the 14 , most of the French people living in the Paris area will move to their vacation locations, creating one of the busiest weekends in the year in railway stations, on the highways, and of course at the 2 Parisian airports, Orly and Charles de Gaulle. Most of them will travel with their children, families and relatives, adding to the immense stress in the endless lines for boarding, screening etc. As of today, our Parisian airports are already overcrowded and close to total saturation, with average flight delays of between one and three hours. As CEO of two French airline companies operating from Orly, and in the name of the tens of thousands of people who will travel to and work at this airport in the coming days, I respectfully ask your services to reconsider the decision to land Air Force One at Orly. Mr President, may I suggest that there is an alternative for you and your delegation : a landing at the private Parisian airport of Le Bourget, just north of the city. Not only is this airport private and therefore not open to huge volumes of passenger traffic, but it will ensure you enjoy an enhanced safety and security environment. As you know, Le Bourget was also the venue, just a few weeks ago, for the International Paris Air Show, the world’s largest and longest-running aerospace event.
Last but not least, at Le Bourget, you will follow in the footsteps of Lindbergh and by doing that you will increase the huge respect French people have for the President of such a friendly and great country. Most respectfully yours, Marc Rochet CEO of Air Caraïbes French airline
