This increase in cost may e minimal. owever, in the case of an envoy there is a considerale increase. T : old mines can accommodate two merchants simultaneously. ou may sometimes gain extra income y illing an enemy merchant or y otaining a ransom against the freedom of an imprisoned enemy unit. ote that an alliance gained through the marriage of a nole lady (blood alliance) procures the largest income, an alliance made y an envoy (basic alliance) provides an average income and an alliance made y a spy (secret areement) will e the least lucrative. ood allows you to raise an army. ou can acuire some food when you ill an enemy peasant, ut to guarantee an enduring supply of food there is only one solution grow crops using peasants. An imprisoned unit represents an enormous handicap for other units of the same type elonging to his ouse. The only way of avoiding this penalty is to pay the ransom to the enemy to free the imprisoned unit. hen you hold an enemy unit in your dungeon, you may free him against the payment of a ransom. ou may also free the unit without any ransom eing paid. This will lead to an immediate increase in the level of peace, unless war has een declared.

ole lady he can e sent to an allied town or castle to marry the local ord (in te case of a blood alliance) . This type of alliance is very difficult to rea and it generates the highest income. n ouse vs ouse mode, the nole lady can only e hired once the reat ord is married. The nole lady can also win over lone enemy units to your ouse y seducing them. Noiit reat ord e is head of the ouse and if he is illed and he has no living heir, the game is lost. ote that if your reat ord is in his eudal ome, he cannot e illed. is presence in a town or an allied castle enales hiring from this location. t is possile to marry the reat ord in a town or a castle to gain a trueorn son. To produce others, you must seduce a trueorn son or heir from another ouse, using a nole lady, or you may recognise as trueorn sons any astards your reat ord may have engendered. A trueorn son of any of these three origins can e designated as heir and any trueorn son can e seduced y an enemy nole lady. eir The trueorn son, fruit of the marriage etween a reat ord and a nole lady, will automatically ecome heir if no other heir has een named. is presence in a town or allied castle enales hiring from this location. f your reat ord is illed, your heir will automatically replace him as reat ord. owever, he will e unale to marry or engender a son unless the previous reat ord has not married. ote that if your heir is in the eudal ome of your ouse, he cannot e illed.

A astard may aandon this status and e recognised as a trueorn son in exchange for the payment of a sum of gold. Session hould your reat ord e illed, your ouse must immediately name its heir as the new reat ord. n order to ensure a seamless succession you should already have designated a trueorn son as heir. A trueorn son is produced as a result of a marriage y the recognition of a astard or y the seduction of an enemy trueorn sonheir. hould you have several trueorn sons then you should recognise one as heir y using the esignate an heir utton within his unit panel.
