Persol Spring/Summer 2013 Collection Icons revisited - Between style and tradition
Persol frames were first created by the institute of Giuseppe Ratti, in the city Italian city of Turin in 1917, and were designed to offer optimal comfort and vision.
Over the years Persol glasses have become a very successful example of Italian-made excellence worldwide. e brand boasts a sequence of original patents throughout its history, with fine finishes made by hand using top quality materials, from the glass of the lenses to the acetates and metals of the frames.
is original story of sincere passion is worth telling from the beginning.
eMeflectosystem, patented in the late 1930s to add flexibility to the temples and reduce pressure on the side of the face, and theSupremearrow, a distinctive as well as functional element, are unmistakable icons of an authentic and unique world of values that stands for high quality, material research and artisan care.
Each pair of Persol glasses is a work of art born of manual skill and technology, a mix of tradition and cutting-edge design. Its allure attracts personalities of the movies and arts, a favorite with lovers of a timeless style beyond fads and fashions. A tradition that renews itself every season with new models of timeless elegance.
e Spring/Summer 2013 Collection continues along the retro inspired trend, with two segments in the spotlight: Design, revisited with technological solutions, unusual materials and contemporary styling, andSuprema, featuring traditional details with a sophisticated unisex vintage style.
Innovative elements include themetal and acetate combination, with outstanding results in terms of aesthetics as well as functionality, and thetubular temples in sun models, an absolute novelty.
Polar and photo-polarlenses are also in the forefront in this collection.
Polarlenses, designed to reduce the reflections of highly reflective surfaces like the sea or snow surfaces, block out the light through the special filters of Persol lenses. is allows them to provide clear, relaxing vision, even when light reflection can be bothersome.
Photo-polarare combine a polarized filter that blocks reflections and provides clear vision, with photochromic lenses filters that progressively darken the lens color as the light gets brighter. is makes them suitable to all light conditions. Both types of lenses are offered in a wide range of classic or innovative colors.
PO 2422SJ Inspired by the 1960s, this streamlined, lightweight metal frame covered with a lining of ultra-thin acetate through a special manual process is the most outstanding characteristic of this men’s sun model. A notable detail is the retro looking thin metal bridge, the unmistakable Supreme Arrow, here in a 4.5mm size, symbolizes tradition – the sublime synthesis of extreme functionality and impeccable elegance. A model with great personality especially suited to vintage lovers who appreciate and identify with icons of the past. The front features refined color combinations: gunmetal/briar root with briar root temples, silver/havana with light havana temples, and black/black with black temples. Available with polar or photo-polar lenses.
PO 3043S Persol revisits a classic 1960s shape, these Suprema men’s sunglasses are inspired by brands own historical archives. Distinctive details are the curved bridge and the thick frame featuring the metal and acetate combination in line with one of the trends of the new collection. Its sharply defined characteristics will be particularly appreciated by true vintage lovers. As in the rest of the collection, the Meflecto system and the Supreme Arrow are symbols of Persol elegance and heritage. e frames are offered in original color versions havana, wavy brown, and black. Available with photo-polar lenses.
PO3038S - PO3042S An oversize cat’s eye shaped frame characterizes these two sun models with an undeniable vintage allure; for self-assured women attracted by the uniqueness of Persol tradition. In both models the ultra-thin 3.5 mm Supreme arrow gives a touch of minimalism, functionality and lightness. e first (PO3038S) combines an elegant feminine mood and a key bridge, an iconic Persol detail, and is available in classic colors (black and havana) as well as in new versions, from gray streaked brown to blue spotted brown. e second (PO3042S), in acetate, is more harmonious and rounded. Colors: classic, from havana brown/smoke to streaked beige. Both models are available with polar or photo-polar lenses.
PO2421S - PO2420S ese two sun frames feature a totally innovative element: the tubular temples, for the first time on sun models, are an exclusive detail that creates a contrast with the contemporary, minimalist-style frame. Perfect for men who like innovative glasses with classy finishes. Made of highly advanced materials, they include a thin (4.5 mm) Supreme arrow and a colored Meflecto system with TPE, the all-new flexible and recyclable “rubber type” material that combines the best properties of thermoplastics and the advantages of thermosetting materials. e PO2421S model is characterized by a metal bridge with very elegant wrought profiles, while the double bridge gives the PO2420S an even stronger personality. Both models are available with polar or photo-polar lenses. e optical model line includes three new styles, all in the Suprema segment.
PO3039V An oversize, unisex acetate model with thickened profiles; for retro style lovers, it exhibits a strong personality that refuses to go unnoticed. e 6mm Supreme arrow makes this model even more expressive. e color palette is also unusual and vintage inspired: along with polished or matte black and havana, the PO3039V is also available in Persol yellow and streaked green. Besides its “different” look, the model is interesting because it accommodates all types of lenses, including progressive.
PO2423VJ is optical model is inspired by the 1960s and at the same time very contemporary. e thin, lightweight frame in a classic square shape is a charming combination of metal covered in acetate. In addition to a pleasant look, it offers the benefit of concealing thick lenses. Available in a selection of colours, with contrasting matte or metallized gradients.
