TERM 1, 2012 PHOTO SHOOT
SHORE THING
This term, our themed photo shoot has a choice of two sub-themes:
th1. Swim & Resort on Saturday 10 March 2012, at Mettams Pool,
Trigg
th2. Nautical on Sunday 11 March 2012, Hillarys Marina.
If students/models require any assistance with styling outfits, inspiration,
ideas etc. please contact Sarah on sarah@alphamodels.com.au or
0432 178 820.
1. Nautical
“Nautical” is a reoccurring theme in many S/S 2012 collections.
Designers such as Toto Moto (below right) and Alexis Mabille (below
left) demonstrate this trend. Nautical trends looks crisp, clean, classy
and elegant. The classic, clean lines look great on many silhouettes. By
taking one or two aspects of the nautical theme, such as fresh/crisp
blue and white combination, you can easily reflect the theme.
Consider different and interesting poses and props that can be utilised
to make your “campaign” different and stand out from the rest.

NB: If choosing to wear horizontal stripes, go for a narrow to medium
thickness stripe. Too thick of stripes will not only make you look thicker,
but is very outdated.

SHOES & FOOTWEAR
Any shoes with a nautical touch will be perfect. The beautiful blue,
cream, gold and red colors with the great structural touch will give it a
nautical appearance. Try some flats, espadrilles, wedges or heels.

HAIR & MAKE UP
The Nautical theme lends itself to a relaxed, casual style. Think “beach
hair”, “lightly tossed waves”, “Australian Beauties”. Remember to
consider your outfit/s when choosing a hair and make-up style
Inspiration:
Fishtail plait/ braids
Australian Beauties – Megan Gale, Miranda Kerr, Gisele Bundchen
(Brazilian)
“Sunset”/ “sun-rise” make-up i.e. burnt orange, blue, navy, red lip
NAILS
Don’t forget to manicure your fingers and toes in an outfit appropriate
colour. When in doubt, polish with a natural healthy colour.
If you are considering a spray tan, please remember it costs extra to
Photoshop orange! Donna Bella Padbury (9403 3306) do excellent and
well-priced spray tans, as does Gloria Battista (0414 417 879).
Make sure that you are cleanly shaven/waxed in all appropriate areas,
especially eyebrows, underarms, legs, and bikini line if your outfit
requires.
2. Swim & Resort
The aim of this shoot is to achieve a beautiful full body shot for each
student/model. A full body shot is a must in every model’s portfolio, to
show their proportions and figure. Students can choose to either wear
a swim suit or resort wear. We encourage those students who are
looking to model at a serious level to shoot in swim wear.
The Victoria’s Secret website has a huge range of poses, expressions
and styling that you can use for inspiration. www.victoriassecret.com
Please note that this is a tasteful shoot – we do not want any poses as
commonly seen in men’s magazines! We will be shooting in a fashion
and age-appropriate context so please bear this in mind when
choosing an outfit and practicing poses.
Shoes are optional, and probably mostly appropriate for resort wear.
Shooting this sub-theme may require you to be in the water or get wet.
Please bring a towel and make sure that you are wearing sunscreen.
