Secretary’s Message Hello! Therewere no minutes for November because of the Auction, so I will just write an article.First of all, I want wish the best to both Jim Mowrey and Jarold Schmidt! Both have had trips to Wichita in November with heart problems.I hope you both have complete and speedy recoveries. We had a very good selection of items at the auction.Unfortunately, we did not have a good turnout of buyers, and most of the items did not sell.It was a little frustrating.I should have done a better job of advertising the auction, but I was not sure we would have much there.I will definitely need to advertise better next year! The total of sales at the auction was $971 and MACK made $107.That is disappointing compared to last year’s $490 we made, but it better than nothing. th Elections are this month, so we need as many people as possible at the December 14meeting. Thenominees are as follows: President VicePresident TreasurerSecretary Clay SchmidtJoe DunnawayGary SheltonRoger Brining Larry FisherMike EstesJarold Schmidt Cory DewaldScott Essmiller The bank building is not available that evening, so we will meet in the basement of the CSC building on the corner of Forest and Williams in Great Bend. Please come to the back door off of the alley. This is directly across the street from the Public Library. If possible, please bring a folding chair with you.I am hoping that we might be able to try a little indoor flying after the meeting, but we will have to play that one by ear. th Mark you calendar for the “AfterChristmas Party” on January 11. Itwill be at the Elks Club again this year.I have made sure that they have both the time and the menu down correctly this time! Also, don’t forget to renew your AMA membership!I will have MACK membership renewal forms at the December meeting.Hopefully, as many people as possible can renew then to save the cost of mailing out the renewal forms. As Joe mentioned last month, please write articles for the newsletter!Sharon has done a fantastic job of putting out a great newsletter, but it is not fair of us as the membership to not provide her with articles. She is supposed to be the editor, not the author! We would all love reading about your projects, trips to the flying field, visits to other clubs, or just about interesting things you have read about. Please help Sharon!!!You may email your articles totransmitter@mackrc.netas a Word document or just type it in the body of the email and she can copy the text into the newsletter. If you don’t have a computer or an internet connection, you can use regular mail. You can send it to Sharon or better yet, send it to me and I will type it in to save her some time. Roger BriningSharon White 406 S Hwy 281140 SE 30th Rd Great Bend, KS 67530Great Bend, KS 67530 nd One last item.I was sad to learn today that Eulalia Weber passed away on December 2. Mycondolences to her family and friends, she will be missed.  Roger L. Brining Club Secretary
WIN A RACER!!! Raffle tickets are available for the Predator 500 ARF pylon racer. It will be given away at the “AfterChristmas Party” and you may buy tickets at the club meeting, at J&R Hobbies, or the night of the drawing. This is an excellent quality ARF that is fast to get in the air and fast in the air!I already go my tickets! The more tickets you by, the better your chances. They are $1 for one, $5 for six, or $20 for a “stretch”. OFFS  My,how time passes when you are having fun, and getting older! Seems just like yesterday that Jarold, Bob, and I decided to a try to establish a radio control club in Great Bend. As I look back it’s hard for me to realize, or remember, all the trials and tribulations we have endured, or how fast that time has passed. A lot of the club leaders of today were just children when all this mayhem was started, even we didn’t feel that old. How times have changed! One thing I do not want to know is how many balsa trees we have planted around central Kansas, or what it cost to plant them. Through it all we have made many friends and this is probably the most important thing that has happened.  Thispast year, events have occurred having nothing to do with the hobby which has triggered a memory. Many years ago when we were spending most of our time on the contest trails, it appeared we were competing against younger and younger adversaries. Could it be we were growing old? Surely not! Anyway we considered very seriously the fact we were becoming the old farts at the events, and maybe we should consider some way to capitalize on the situation. Many ideas were cussed and discussed. One possibility that kept rearing its head was, “The Old Farts Flying Society," better known as the OFFS.  AsI consider the past years' nonmodeling events it occurs to me this idea is more valid today than it was in years' past. With this thought in mind, I believe we should establish a MACK chapter known as OFFS. No dues, no age limits. Just recognition that we cannot hear, see, take responsibility, do much manual labor, and sometimes we cannot even remember what we are doing. We need all the help you younger members can give. In other words, be alert, we still enjoy and intend to participate in the hobby, but there may come a time when we need a little help.  Ifyou read this, Thank you for your consideration. If you did not read it, remember your time is coming. Jim Mowrey Charter member of OFFS
