In connection with the preparation by the Commission of an invitation to tender for the transport
to a chemical reprocessing plant of fuel elements discharged from the Community's research reactors,
three private firms were commissioned to carry out studies with the object of determining the various
aspects of these transport operations in the light of current know-how in Europe and the United States.

En relation avec la préparation d'un appel d'offres lancé par la Commission pour le
transport vers une usine de retraitement chimique des combustibles déchargés des réac­
teurs de recherche de la Communauté, des études destinées à préciser les différents
aspects actuellement connus de ces transports en Europe et aux Etats-Unis ont été con­
fiées sous contrat à trois firmes privées.
Les résultats de ces études sont présentés sous la forme de ce dossier d'information,
en 3 parties, comportant les contributions respectives des chargés d'étude, à savoir:
Zur Vorbereitung einer Ausschreibung der Kommission für die Beförderung
bestrahlter Brennstoffe aus Forschungsreaktoren der Gemeinschaft zu einer chemischen
Aufarbeitungsanlage sind drei private Unternehmen im Vertragswege beauftragt worden,
die bisher bekannten Aspekte solcher Beförderungen in Europa und in den Vereinigten
Staaten im einzelnen zu unternehmen.
Die Ergebnisse dieser Untersuchungen werden in diesem Dokument vorgelegt, das
sich in drei Teile gliedert, die den Beiträgen der drei Auftragnehmer entsprechen:
