CHANGING YOUR EMAIL SETTINGS OR PROFILE SETTINGS Email Feature: Catalyst sends you an email when there are new postings. The email “settings” options provide intervals for sending emails. • How Can You Check or Change your settings, click on your name on the top right corner of the screen. TO ENTER A CONFERENCE Under “My Catalyst Spaces”, click on the conference you want to enter. PHND – Archive archived Topic discussions retained as a historical resource. PHND – Current Current Topics Discussions.PARTICIPATING IN CONFERENCES When you enter the “PHND – CURRENT” conference, a page will come up with a list of Topics that shows where newresponses are since last time you were in that Topic. Click on the Topic you want to enter, if you wish to see the New new responses first, click thenewparallel to the Topic (Topic numbering is not sequential because as topics are moved to “PHND Archive” the system doesn’t renumber itself sequentially.) HOW TO ADD A NEW RESPONSE To comment scroll to the end of the conversation, you will see a text box. If the Topic has a lot of comments you may need to go to the next page of comments, by click LastorAll. Enter your new comment in the textbox. Click the Post and Viewbutton and you see your message posted and as others will view it. The comments go in order of oldest to latest. Note:if you are responding you might want to refer the comment or question you are responding to by referencing the number next to the message the name of the person with the comment/question. You can click on the “Who Has Seen” link. It lists all the members of our group and indicates whether they have seen some or all of the messages in that conversation. You would use this tool if you want to know who has seen the conversation and if you need to do something to get feedback. HOW TO MARK WHAT’S BEEN SEEN TheNewwill automatically go away once you have opened that item. When to use onestep Mark All Seen: Avg. of 1015 responses per page If more than that, you’ll have to bring up next page—if want to clear all the Newthat you’ve seen, click on“MARK ALL SEEN”

TO CREATE A NEW TOPICYou must be in PHND  Current. At top left of page, click on “CREATE NEW TOPIC” and fill in the blanks. Topic description is where you introduce the topic and lay the foundation. Facilitation tips: Pose it like you’re face to face:“This is what this is about.”,This is what I want to accomplish.”, or What do you think we should do with this?” This will create “a little notebook” with your original description plus other member’s comments. INSERTING A FILE or DOCUMENT If you would like to add a file attachment click on the “Insert a file from your Computer” and it will allow you to go through your Windows Explorer to pick a file. This is the box you get when you choose “Insert a file from your own computer” ClickBrowseto browse your computer’s files to find the document you wish to post. Chose how you wish the document to be displayed, usuallyDisplay the file as a link reading This gives you the opportunity to use a label for your attachment such asJob Descriptionrather than a file name. Click UPLOAD. You can edit even after posting if you’ve made mistake by clicking the Edit on the right of the posting.
This is the box that pops up when you choseInsert a File from your CatalystDirectory, click in the top box to make your selection. MANAGING TOPICS We need a group understanding or agreement to a policy defining when to delete or move a topic to archive. Anyone could comment that a certain topic seems to be “dead” and to reply only if you think it should live on, giving people a time frame to respond for example please respond with in one week. If a topic should not have been archived we can always resurrect it from the archive section.

LIBRARY & CALENDAR TOOLS From PHND  Current you can use the Library or Calendar Tool. The Library is a storage area for articles, tools, and links in Subject categorized folders. The Calendar is an event calendar with descriptions and links to agendas and minutes or websites. CATALYST LIBRARY
Clicking brings up a new window that contains the Library. Click the folder and it opens displaying contents. Click on document or Link you wish to open. You can Add an Item to this subject by clicking “Add Item”. That opens up this window, fill in the boxes noticing some are required.* Upload a file from your computerwill allow you to search your computer for the file. Choose Media Type from the drop down box. When finished click“Submit”button. Create a new Library folder or do a Search of the Library, go to the very bottom of the main Library page and you should see this: You can add a new folder by keyboarding in to this box the name of the new folder you want to make and then hit the Createbutton.

CATALYST CALENDAR A new window just for Calendar opens over the main PHND – Current page. Do Not use the Back buttonon your browser, as it will erase anything you may have scheduled on the Calendar. Click here to change which month you see Calendar for Point and mouse click to open event to display event details. To create a new calendar event.Click on to add a new event and this is the window that pops up. Fill in your event information.By clicking theSave Eventbutton it will save the event and return you to the calendar. If you want to return to the calendar without saving, click theReturn to CalendarYou can also Export this Event into yourlink at the bottom of the page. computer’s Outlook calendar. To put a Live Link in a Calendar Event?Put the document Agenda or Minutes in the library, notice the html address in the browser window and copy it. That is the location of the document now. In the calendar open up the event and if necessary click the edit, then in the description box paste the address that you just copied. To make it a live link though, you need to put this extra stuff before and after the address:<a href="pasted html address">your document label/name can go here</a>The document label/name is what will show when you click “Save Event”or“Save Changes”, it should be an active link and blue in color. Usin Netsca e:use the“REFRESH”button on your tool bar to see “New” next to current postings.
You could also go to View on your tool bar and select “REFRESH” Navigating through Catal st: At the bottom of each screen use the drop down box to choose which screen Jump to Conf erence... you would like to jump to. Click here to see choices available. Also, above the Add a Response box tells you where you are and takes you back by clicking on whichever one you want to go to.

Print Screen: If you would like to take notes on how to use a certain page use the Print Screen button (it acts like a copy button). It is located on the right top of your keyboard and paste it into a word document and make your notes. Editing a Response or Topic:Click on the “EDIT” button to the right of your comment or topic; or at the bottom of opened calendar item. Internet Speed Issues:A“No Graphics”option button. Those with older computers can chose this option and Catalyst will work much faster without images.Spell Check:Use http://www.Dictionary.comdoes not have spellcheck.. Catalyst Responding via email:It is possible to respond to Catalyst mailouts via email, though the recommended method is to link to the web interface for the full context. To respond via email, just click 'Reply' in your mail client and replace the 'Type_Your_Response_Here' text just below the item you are responding to with your actual response to that post. You may respond to multiple posts in a single mailout using the same method. Mail you send to Catalyst should be of type TEXT (not Rich Text or HTML). Responses will appear in Catalyst within one hour. See who has viewed a conference/discussion area: Click onWho has Seenand this box opensCatching up If you’ve been out of the office awhile and can’t keep up will all the new posting in Catalyst, give yourself a clean slate by clicking on theMark All Seen

DropDown Box:A box that allows you to choose from certain selections, click on little down arrow to see Jump to Conf erence... choices. Link: A segment of text or a graphical item that serves as a crossreference between parts of a hypertext document or between files or hypertext documents. Also calledhotlink, hyperlink.If clicked on it will automatically open your web browser and go to the link’s location. PHND – Archive:A longterm storage area, for items that are no longer in active use. But may be needed for history of a subject. PHND – Current:Online conference topic area for current discussion topics, also entry to the Library and the Calendar is here. Post Box:Also the Response box. By keyboarding in your comments/response and then clicking the Submit button, what you have entered or posted your comments into the conversation for all to see. Profile:Brief description of who you are and your role, with some contact info. Refresh:Refresh will update information that may have been entered To renew to the most current version. new from the last time you were in Catalyst. To have this refresh take place automatically check with you IT team. If you useMicrosoft Internet Explorer, Open it and clickToolsand thenInternet Options.Click the Generaltab and in the section Temporary Internet Files click theSettingsbutton and choseAutomaticallythen close. Now no matter which website you visit you should have the most current information displayed.
