SmartMusic Tutorial USING THE METHOD BOOK Once you have opened the lesson book, you can scroll through the tracks (exercises) to find the track you would like to play. Double click on the track to open it. By default, the accompaniment to the track will play without the melody (your part). To hear the melody (your part), select (click on) “my part” in the Tracks box. If you do not want to hear the accompaniment, deselect (click on) “accompaniment” in the Tracks box. To play a track, click “Start take.” You will hear a count off of 4 clicks then the track will begin. The clicks indicate the speed of the quarter notes. You will see a green bar that shows where you are in the track. If you are playing along with the track (and your mic is plugged in), SmartMusic will show you which pitches you played correctly (in green) and which ones you missed (in red) and what your overall percentage correct was on that take.
