S>]\A& paH-icipa+ioKv The Commhsion is seeking to promote the participation ofSMEs in ■ Telematics applications; the Fourth Framework Programme on Research, Technological ■ Advanced communications technologies and services; Development and Demonstration activities (1994-1998).For this purpose, a umber of actions have been undertaken. One of these relates ■ Industrial and materials technologies; to the involvement of European industry sectoral federations in ■ Standardization, measurements and testing; preparatory and accompanying actions. For each sectoral exercise, the objectives are to: ■ Environment and climate; ■ Promote awareness about the importance of research and ■ Marine science and technologies; development; ■ Biotechnology; ■ Identify the R&D needs of SMEs within the industrial sector(s) ■ Biomedicine and health; concerned, covering the relevant RTD areas of the programmes listed below; ■ Agriculture and fisheries (including agro-industry, food technologies, forestry, aquaculture and rural development); ■ Identify and foster potential cross-border partnerships for project ■ Non-nuclear energy; proposals - centres on R&D needs of SMEs - to be submitted under the Fourth Framework Programme. ■ Transport.
