Henry Drysdale Dakin at Compiègne in 1915. With the help of unpublished photographs and documents, the author retraces those conditions in which in 1915, H. D. Dakin, after having rejoined Alexis Carrel at the temporary military hospital at Compiègne, perfected his famous antiseptic solution which bears his name. He is quick to point out the controversies concerning the discovery, as well as the difficulties that manufacturing the product caused at the outset. Finally, he draws a parallel between the life and career of Dakin (1880-1952) and that of Carrel (1873-1944).
Henry Drysdale Dakin in Compiègne, 1915. An Hand von unveröffentlichten Dokumenten und Lichtbilder schildert der Autor die Umstanden unter welchen, im Jahre 1915, H. D. Dakin die nach ihm benannte, beriïhmte antiseptische Lösung, mit Alexis Carrel im Feldlazarett von Compiègne, ausarbeitete. Er erwähnt kurz die um diese Entdeckung entstandenen Kontroversen, sowie die, bei der Herstellung dieses Erzeugnisses zuerst angetroffenen Schwierigkeiten. Endlich skizziert er eine Parallèle zwischen Lebenslauf und Karriere von Dakin (1880-1952) und Carrel (1873-1944).
