Description
A core drilling carried out for the survey of the geological map of Hazebrouck 1/50000 permitted to recognize the occurence of Eemian deposits at 13-18 meters depth (altitude: 0 to -5 m below mean sea-level) underlying the Weichselian and Holocene inflUing into a mostly fluviatile sequence. The Eemian peaty deposits (5 m) are corresponding to the middle period of the Interglacial (E4a). The Weichselian sands and loams (9 m) show an interstadial level dating from the beginning of the Upper Pleniglacial. The Holocene clayey-organic sedimentation (4 m) which is starting from the Atlantic period can be compared to that of the Eemian Interglacial.
