The « Physiologie du médecin » (1841). The « physiologies » - little books of 32mo. size, abundantly illustrated with woodcuts, were very much in style in France during the years 1840-1842, and were the result of three influences : the medical physiology (Cabanis, Bichat, Demangeon), physiognomy (Lavater) and the studies of morals and socials types. One good example of these is the Physiologie du médecin by Louis Huart, illustrated by Trimolet (Paris, 1841) wherein there is a chapter constituting a lively satire against pharmacists. They are accused of accumulating profits by means of boastful advertising and by selling quite expensive and useless « specialties » : the physicians and they are brothers in charlatanry.
