CURLED DOCK FOR HOMOEOPATHIC PREPARATIONS   RUMEX CRISPUS FOR HOMOEOPATHIC PREPARATIONS   Rumex crispus ad praeparationes homoeopathicas     DEFINITION    Fresh root ofRumex crispusL.     CHARACTERS    Macroscopic characters described under identification.   Pungent smell.     IDENTIFICATION    Taproot, fleshy, saffron yellow with a surface furrowed with wrinkles and annular striations.     TESTS   Foreign matter(2.8.2): maximum 5 per cent.   Loss on drying(2.2.32g of finely-cut drug by drying in): minimum 50.0 per cent, determined on 5.0 an oven at 105 °C for 2 h.       STOCK  

  DEFINITION    Curled dock mother tincture complies with the requirements of the general technique for the preparation of mother tinctures (seeHomoeopathic Preparations (1038) French and Pharmacopoeia Authority Supplement). The mother tincture is prepared with ethanol (45 per cent V/V), using the fresh root ofRumex crispusL.   Content: minimum 0.003 per centm/mof total hydroxyanthracene derivatives, expressed as emodin (C 15 H 10 O 5 ;M r  .072 .)2
