FRANGULA BARK FOR HOMOEOPATHIC PREPARATIONS   RHAMNUS FRANGULA FOR HOMOEOPATHIC PREPARATIONS   Rhamnus frangula cortex ad praeparationes homoeopathicas Other Latin name used in homoeopathy:Rhamnus     The herbal drug complies with the requirements of monographRhamnus fragulaL. .)5200(     STOCK      DEFINITION    Frangula bark complies with the requirements of the general technique for themother tincture preparation of mother tincture (seeHomoeopathic Preparations (1038)and French Pharmacopoeia Authority Supplement). The mother tincture is prepared with ethanol (65 per centV/V), using the dried bark of the stem and branches ofRhamnus frangulaL.(Frangula alnusMiller).   Content: minimum 0.25 per centm/mof glucofrangulins, expressed as glucofrangulin A (C 27 H 30 O 14 ; Mr 578.5).     CHARACTERS    Appearance: reddish-brown liquid.       IDENTIFICATION    Thin-layer chromatography (72.2.2).   Test solution.Mother tincture.

Reference solution (a).Dissolve 10 mg ofbarbaloin Rin 20 mL ofmethanol R.   Reference solution (b).Dissolve 1 mg ofemodin R mLin 6 of a mixture ofmethanol R and methylene chloride R(2:1V/V).   Plate:TLC silica gel plate R.

Mobile phase:water R, methanol R, ethyl acetate R13:1( 0:701V/V/V).

Application: 20 µL, as bands.
