E.-H. Guitard erhält die Schelenz-Plakette für 1972 .
Die Schelenz-Plakette für 1972 erhielt Professor Guitard, der Anreger der ersten pharmazeutisch-historischen Gesellschaft, sowie der ersten Fachveröffentlichung dieser Art in der Welt. Der Autor bringt, aus diesem Anlass, Auszüge der historisch wichtigen Korrespondenz zwischen Professor Schneider und Herrn Guitard, sowie des Letzteren Ansprache bei der Überreichung der Plakette in Toulouse am 19. Juni 1972. Er schildert Leben und Werk von E.-H. Guitard, welcher am 26. Dezember 1884 in Toulouse geboren, Lizentiat es lettres, ewiger Sekretär der Société d'Histoire de la Pharmacie, Mitglied der Académie internationale d'Histoire de la Pharmacie wurde, sowie auch Inhaber der Urdang-Medaille und der Lauro del Palatino, Konservator der Stadtbibliothek von Toulouse, Buchhändler und Verleger, Professor am Institut für Geschichte der Wissenschaften an der Pariser Universität, Sachbearbeiter für den Umweltschutz der Haute-Garonne, u.s.w. Guitard spielt weiterhin eine wichtige Rolle in der Bewahrung der Städten-Aesthetik, worüber er 1947 eine Abhandlung veröffentlichte.
Der Autor erwähnt die wichtigsten Werke von Herrn Guitard, welcher, ausserdem über 4500 pharmaziegechichtliche Beiträge, Rezensionen und Besprechungen verfasste.
Als Musik-, Theater-, Literatur- und Kunstkritiker, hat Herr Guitard annähernd 7000 Referate veröffentlicht.
Er widmet sich der Musik, der Malkunst, und, seit Anfang des Jahrhunderts, dem Automobilsport.
Als Mann des Geistes und der Tat hat er der Pharmaziegeschichte ausserordent-liche Dienste erwiesen.
The «Schelenz-Plakette» for 1972 has been awarded to E. H. Guitard.
To coincide with the 1972 award of the «Schelenz-Plakette» to M. Guitard, the man who inspired the first society and the first journal in the world devoted to the History of Pharmacy, the author publishes some extracts of historical interest in the correspondence exchanged on this occasion between Pr Schneider and Pr Guitard. Included also are extracts of the address delivered by M. Guitard when he received the award in Toulouse on June 19, 1972.
E.-H. Guitard was born in Toulouse on December 26, 1884 ; his career includes receipt of a degree as bachelor of literature, perpetual secretary of the International Society of the History of Pharmacy, member of the International Academy of the History of Pharmacy, recipient of the Urdang medal and of the Palatin Laurels. He has been librarian at the Municipal Library of Toulouse, Bookseller, editor, professor at the Institute of the History of Science at Paris University, curator of the Saint-Raymond archeological Museum in Toulouse, delegate to the Haute-Garonne site defence, etc. He still plays an important role in the defence of urban aesthetics, and he published an essay on this subject in 1947. M. Guitard has published several books and approximately 4500 papers, original notes, reports and analyses on the History of Pharmacy and Medicine. As a musical, dramatic, literary and artistic critic, M. Guitard has published approximately 7000 reports. As avocations he has long been a practicing musician and artist and since the beginning of this century he has had an interest in the automobile.
