A curious galenic preparation : the « nozilla lourda > (the « heavy hazel-nut »). This product, which came out of both Limousin folk medicine and dispensary preparation, consisted of a hollowed-out and pierced hazel-nut which was then filled with mercury and sealed, permitting it to be hung about the neck of a child. The porosity of the coating assured a regular application of mercury on the skin of the patient without exposing him to the known dangers of mercury therapy.

A curious galenic preparation : the « nozilla lourda > (the « heavy hazel-nut »). This product, which came out of both Limousin

folk medicine and dispensary preparation, consisted of a hollowed-out and pierced hazel-nut which was then filled with mercury

and sealed, permitting it to be hung about the neck of a child. The porosity of the coating assured a regular application of mercury
