Journal de la Société des océanistes - Année 1979 - Volume 35 - Numéro 63 - Pages 115-118Since 1972 an artistic revival has flourished among the Gogodala of Papua New Guinea's Western Province. Following a full generation of mission-inspired hostility towards the arts of their pre-Christian ancestors, the Gogodala are once again carving totemic figures, making dance masks, and racing ceremonial canoes on the local rivers and lagoons. A new longhouse has been constructed, in the traditional style, to serve as the spatial focus of the Gogodala Cultural Centre. 4 pages Source : Persée ; Ministère de la jeunesse, de l’éducation nationale et de la recherche, Direction de l’enseignement supérieur, Sous-direction des bibliothèques et de la documentation.
