January- June 1978 ABSTRACT The contribution of the JRC to the development of Solar Energy Technologies is described. The programme has two main orientations: — support of industrial development, particularly with studies in the field of Habitat (contribution to the application of Solar Energy in Housing) and the design and the preparation of a European Solar Test installation (ESTI) - orientative research, a limited exploratory activity for some possible long term applications. The activities are subdivided in the following projects: Project I : Habitat and Thermal Conversion 1-1 Habitat: contribution to standard test methodologies, experimental studies on complete systems in solar house, collection of solar data and analysis methods, studies on energy storage and solar cooling, etc. 1-2 High Temperature Absorber Materials: research for absorber surfaces with special morphology and stable at high temperature.
