This synthesis is realized from acetate of ruminal origin or beta-hydroxybutyrate of butyrate metabolism origin from ruminal epithelium. NB : An enzyme called – delta-9 desaturase – produced from intestine and udder is active on long and medium chain of fatty acids. This enzyme has no effect on small chain of fatty acids. Delta-9 desaturase is essential for desaturation of long chain of fatty acids. Im’Prouve ALC is a calcium salt (By-pass) that contains two isomers. The isomer Trans-10, Cis-12 C18 :2 inhibits fatty acids synthesis from udder. Udder produces 50% of milk fat. So we can’t reduce milk fat content more than 50% with Im’Prouve ALC. Inhibition of fatty acids synthesis is reversible. Im’Prouve ALC supplementation permits to decreases milk fat content in 15 days. This decreasing endures about 40 days. You have got maximum dose effect of Im’Prouve ALC at 40 days of supplementation. If milk fat content decreasing is too high you can reduce Im’Prouve ALC supplementation. You need about 7 days after non Im’Prouve ALC supplementation to have again initial milk fat content. Im’Prouve ALC is efficient whatever the race and the diet because udder has the same metabolism. When diet is rich of acetate (hay) Im’Prouve ALC effect will be more interesting. IV- WHY DOES IM’PROUVE ALC INCREASE MILK PRODUCTION AND MILK PROTEIN CONTENT? “UFL” (net energy expressed in France) per litre of milk is about 0,44 UFL. This value is according to fats level: UFL / kg = 0,43 (0,4 + 0,15 x milk fat level*) *Milk fat level, % of fats Milk fat level 3,0% 3,5% 4,0% 4,5% 5,0% Need UFL / kg of 0,37 0,40 0,43 0,47 0,50 milk A cow that produces 25 kg of milk at 4,5% milk fat level needs 25 kg x 0,47 UFL / kg = 11,75 UFL / day, 25 kg of milk at 3,8% milk fat level needs 25 kg x 0,42 UFL / kg = 10,50 UFL / day With 20 g per day of Im’Prouve ALC this cow at 4,5% milk fat level reduces its energetic need from 11,75 UFL per day to 10,50 UFL per day. It is about a decreasing of 1,25 UFL per day. You need about 40 days to obtain maximum dose effect, Supplementation for all cows is advised, If you want to increase milk fat content, it is important to reduce supplementation by 50% (10 g per day of Im’Prouve ALC). 2- Long term action : if your target is to improve milk production 20 g per day of Im’Prouve ALC supplementation in winter, 20 g per day of Im’Prouve ALC supplementation in spring during grazing period, Im’Prouve ALC supplementation from calving period to 200 days in lactation period.
