To achieve their growth goals, the research indicates that they are turning to project- and team-oriented enablers such as project management, product data management, and collaboration technologies. The Product Innovation Agenda Benchmark Report, however, highlights a disconnect between the top actions being pursued for growth – namely, “increasing fit of products to customer and market needs” and “increasing value of new products chosen” – and the use of product portfolio management solutions that are designed to enable these exact actions. This disconnect indicates a potential opportunity for companies to significantly improve their product innovation performance through the use of enabling technology.
