The top Power Tub areas regarding restrooms
Don’t you hate it when your hot water tank runs out of hot water in the middle of your shower? And
how about when someone else starts using hot water and you suddenly have to jump out of the way of
the now-frigid water blasting down on you? Titilating, eh? Well, at least it wakes you up.
But my own favorite is when someone flushes the toilet and I get burned. But when my five-year-old girl
got scalded, I knew I had to take action.
So, I went out and purchased an electric shower, and now we don’t have any of those problems.
I’d never even heard of an electric shower except
bathroom radiators
. At first I thought it might be some
kind of capital punishment for people who wanted to go out clean. But instead it turned out to be an on-
demand hot water heater for showers. Cool, eh?
Actually, it can be whatever temperature you want, because it’s thermostatically controlled. The heating
element can either reside in the showerhead or mounted on the shower wall.
Electric showers are far more efficient than standard shower systems that run on a hot water tank. Hot
water tanks heat a rather large amount of water and store it in an insulated tank, but the tank still
radiates heat, wasting energy at
bathroom taps
. And then the hot water has to be pumped from the
tank all the way to the place the hot water is going to be used, which might be several rooms away,
wasting more heat energy.
An electric shower system heats the water right when and where it’s needed, and a number of of these
systems are 99% efficient in using energy. If you are currently using a hot water tank system, installing
an electric shower can save you a lot of money on your electric bill.
Electric showers have an further advantage in that they only need one water line to the shower, and
that line can be a cool water line, so it doesn’t need to be insulated. This simplifies plumbing and saves
you money on materials and labour.
Another advantage to an this system is that it doesn’t matter whether someone uses water elsewhere in
the house, because the water is heated right at the source.

Another problem with hot water tank systems is that once the tank runs out of hot water, it takes quite
a while to re-heat the tank. Electric shower systems solve that difficulty by heating the water only when
you need it, and they will keep on heating it as long as you need the water. So it doesn’t matter how
many people have taken a shower before you, or how long of a shower you take.
If they are installed by a professional, a newer model electric shower is completely safe to use. When
electric showers
bathroom décor
first came out, they occasionally sparked fires in Third World countries
where the wiring and workmanship were questionable. So if you plan to travel to a Third World country,
be sure you check any electric showers you find there for exposed wires. If you come across some
exposed wires, you should at least tape them up with electrical tape; but your safest bet might be to not
use that shower. If you do use it, keep a watchful eye on it.
