In 1755, Israel Pemberton writes: The frequent melancholy accounts of the barbarous murthers committed by Indians in the western and northern portions of this Province, filled the minds of people in general, with indignation and resentment against them, and no opportunity presented of publicly manifesting the earnest concern we had, to use our utmost endeavors.
