Insights from Chapter 1

#1

Trump’s supporters should not kid themselves. The 2016 election was just a beginning. The decisive election is in 2020. If the combined weight of the radical Democratic Left can defeat him, then Trump will be recorded in history as a temporary detour on the march to a socialist-leaning America.

#2

To understand the Trump presidency, you must first look at the man who creates it. Trump’s unique style developed from his upbringing. He knew that voters were customers, and he knew how to reach large numbers of them.

#3

Trump learned that fighting with the most widely read gossip column in New York worked in getting him attention. He had a massive Twitter and Facebook following that allowed him to communicate with the public instantly.

#4

Trump was an outsider in politics, and many people love those in political elections. Trump was able to operate outside all accepted boundaries of traditional politics, and this delighted millions.

#5

The day after the 2016 election, there were already anti-Trump meetings in cities across the country. On Inauguration Day, the Washington Post published an article proclaiming that the campaign to impeach Trump had begun.

#6

Trump's team did not anticipate how bitter and deep the counterattack would be, as they had focused on transition issues rather than anticipating and preparing for the hostility they would receive from the Left.

#7

The election of President Trump, and his persistence in disrupting the old order, has created a backlash that is a matter of survival for the Left and part of the establishment. This is why the media is so thoroughly dishonest.

#8

The 2020 election is not a normal election. It is an election about which set of values will survive and be fully implemented. To President Trump’s credit, he is as big a threat to the institutions and values of the Left as they think.

#9

Trump’s presidency has been characterized by the clash of two worlds, and the threat he poses to the Left’s world. The Trump team has responded too slowly and too intermittently to meet the scale of the assault.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

The American Left has a tradition of self-righteousness and totalitarian beliefs, which have metastasized into a belief that any other view is not only wrong, but cannot be tolerated.

#2

The media, which shares many of the Left’s more radical values, protects them and their craziness.

#3

The joint efforts of the Clinton campaign, senior elements of the FBI, and rogue elements of the intelligence community to destroy Trump was unprecedented in its aggression. It was clear that these officials were breaking the law in 2016 to stop Trump in the hopes that a Clinton administration would overlook their criminal behavior.

#4

If Trump is re-elected, the deep state will collapse. Trump has a better understanding of how the system works and who he needs to defeat to make changes. The American people will confer authority on Trump, making it nearly impossible for the deep state to resist him.

#5

One of the things that confuses Republicans is the radical difference in both the psychology and organization of the radical Democratic Left. The Left is genuinely entrepreneurial, and anyone can emerge at any time and try to create a following or build a cause.

#6

The Republican Party needs to acquire more of the Trump speed and aggressiveness if it wants to win state and local elections. It must also learn to win the argument and then win the vote.

#7

Republicans must assume that their communications plans will be met with endless, unfair hostility from the media, and that they will try to stop them regardless. Republicans must spend a lot of time and resources simply fighting their way back to even from the consistently negative and biased coverage they receive.

#8

The media hostility is not a problem for Republicans. It is a fact. What they do about it is the problem. The left-wing activist groups are far more combative and politically savvy than their conservative counterparts.

#9

The five goals of the Republican Party in 2020 are to elect President Trump and Vice President Pence, regain a majority in the House, gain Senate seats, develop a powerful and consistent argument that demolishes the lies of the Left and the fantasies of the radicals, and carry that argument into every neighborhood, ethnic group, and age group.
Insights from Chapter 3

#1

The impeachment attempt against President Trump wrapped up in late March 2020, a month after the failed attempt. The total impeachment effort started long before Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who openly admitted working on the effort for nearly Trump’s entire presidency, got involved.

#2

The media has played a key role in the Trump opposition, as they have made impeachment, something which is historically rare, a part of everyday conversation.

#3

The impeachment fairy tale began in December 2016, a month before Trump was even elected, when Vanity Fair published a story explaining how Trump could be impeached on his first day in office if he did not entirely divest himself from his business dealings.

#4

The media’s hostility towards Trump is unprecedented, and it only increased after he became president. The major networks spent so much time talking about the failed impeachment that they largely ignored any other news.
