It may be stated as a maxim, that a house which partakes in form much of the cube will be more compact in the plan and eleva tion, afford more conveniencies with less cost, than any other form. Houses of large extensive fronts require much architectural deco ration, and can scarcely be considered to come within the scope of this publication, which partakes more of the useful than the grand.
