Hello, my name is Danny O’Kelly, I am the author of the book “The Forgotten Times” which was the first and only book that I have written. It was published by Authors House Publishing Company back in December 2016. I have been asked by several people, including some of my immediate family, to write a sequel to the book, “The Forgotten Times” which was a short book of only 116 pages. It was basically an autobiography about me and my family and how fortunate, or should I say how blessed, I was being raised by my grandparents (Grant and Dora Burton) at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Northeast Georgia. I say this without any disrespect or personal vendetta toward my mother and my father whom I love dearly. You would have to read my book, “The Forgotten Times” to understand what I mean by saying blessed and fortunate.
In my first book, I spent time talking about some of my family members, especially the two half-brothers that I was raised with in my grandparent’s house. Terrell and Ronald Sosebee were as close as it gets in my mind being siblings. There were a lot of other family members left out unintentionally, of course, in my first book but hopefully in this book I will get to include some of them, but I make no promises as I just write as it comes to my forgetful and feeble mind.
I will start off this second book by saying when I grew up in my grandparent’s (Grant and Dora Burton) house along with my two half brothers (Ronald and Terrell Sosebee), there were always numerous other people living and staying in grandma and grandpa’s house. While I guess it must have been some hard times that we were all living in back in those days, I suppose I was personally too young to know or even care about the struggles of every day life. As for me, I loved living in a house full of people. As the old saying goes, “the more the merrier for me.” As far as privacy, who cares, I was just a small boy living in a house full of people. We were like the TV show, “The Walton’s,” if you have ever seen that show.
Now, with this second book, I would like to give you a different insight into my life growing up with family and friends as I did. Because this way of life is what made me the person or the man I am today. In a strange and unthinkable way, music and song went a long way in forming and molding me into what I have become today. I’ve heard it said that you are what you eat, or better yet, whomever you hang around with is what you are likely to become, but I think the music and song that a person listens to can and just might influence them and mold them into the people that they might become.
