Pronouns
Pronounsreplace nouns in order for us to avoid using the same nouns repeatedly.
For example:
Kyle likes to play rugby. Kyle is very good.
We could instead say…
Kyle likes to play rugby. He is very good.
Grade 6
There are three categories to consider when looking at pronouns. We are either speaking or writing in first person, second person or third person and we can refer to one person (singular) or many people (plural).
First personis when you refer to yourself or a group of  people including yourself. This includes:
For example:
I, me and mine When you are only referring to yourself (singular). OR We, us and ours When you refer to yourself as well as others (plural).
Iam tired.
Weare tired.
Singular– only referring to you.
Iam tired
Plural– referring to you and others.
Metoo
Second personThis includes:is when you mention someone else who is present.
For example:
You and yours When you are only referring to one other person (singular). OR You and yours When you refer to many others (plural).
Youare late.
This can refer to one person or a group of people and replace one or many name(s).
Third personis when you discuss someone who isnotpresent. These pronouns can be
masculine, feminine or neutral.
He, him and his
She, her, hers, it
When you are only referring to one other person (male or female) or object (singular). OR They, them and theirs When you refer to many others who are not present in your conversation (plural).
