Sample Book Insights:
#1 I was in labor again, but this time it was spiritual. I prayed to a God I wasn’t sure existed, and I needed him to save my daughter. But I was also questioning God’s existence.
#2 I was that kid who was sure of her faith. I grew up in a Christian family, and I was always taught that Christians were supposed to be serving others. I didn’t have any problems with my faith until I met a pastor who challenged me and my beliefs.
#3 Progressive Christianity, as a whole, does not have any set beliefs or dogmas. It instead focuses on personal practices and conscience. It is very open to reinterpreting, redefining, or even rejecting essential doctrines of the faith.
#4 I was eventually thrust into a spiritual blackout, where I had to consider why I believed what I did. I began reading books on apologetics and theology, and I even began seminary classes.

Insights from Chapter 1

#1

I was in labor again, but this time it was spiritual. I prayed to a God I wasn’t sure existed, and I needed him to save my daughter. But I was also questioning God’s existence.

#2

I was that kid who was sure of her faith. I grew up in a Christian family, and I was always taught that Christians were supposed to be serving others. I didn’t have any problems with my faith until I met a pastor who challenged me and my beliefs.

#3

Progressive Christianity, as a whole, does not have any set beliefs or dogmas. It instead focuses on personal practices and conscience. It is very open to reinterpreting, redefining, or even rejecting essential doctrines of the faith.

#4

I was eventually thrust into a spiritual blackout, where I had to consider why I believed what I did. I began reading books on apologetics and theology, and I even began seminary classes.

#5

Christianity is not based on a mystical revelation or self-inspired philosophy. It is based on history, and it is the only religious system that depends on a historical event being real - the resurrection of Jesus - being true.

#6

I hope this book will be a lifeboat for you, dear reader. Whatever your beliefs, they are probably being challenged right now.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

As a touring musician, I always dreaded festival season, which generally fell right in the midst of summer. During this time of year, the comforts of the tour bus were replaced by early morning flights, bumpy van rides, and stuffy hotel rooms.

#2

The author went to a Christian camp where teenagers were told they would go to heaven when they died. But something about that stuck in her spirit like a pebble that wouldn’t leave her shoe. She wondered if the teenagers comprehended what they had signed up for.

#3

I had gone forward and prayed the prayer at camp, a prayer that was supposed to change someone’s life. But two weeks later, the same as before, he was the same as he had been before. He didn’t care about God anymore.

#4

I sang about a girl who met Jesus in a strip club, and asked what would happen if all our proverbial closets opened up and the dusty skeletons we’d been hiding for so long walked out.

#5

I had been attending a different church, but eventually joined the one my husband and I had been attending, which was a small but growing congregation. The pastor had a intellectual approach and fresh insights into the Scriptures, and I enjoyed the sense of community.

#6

I was invited to participate in a class at my church that would change my life. It was a discussion-style environment, and I was surrounded by hip, fresh-faced couples and older folks with knowing eyes. I felt out of place.

#7

I was invited to a class on being peculiar, where I was told that I was out of the box thinker.
