Author’s Note
I am an ESOL tutor based in Leeds. I was inspired by the Gatehouse Books I used with my students to write some beginner reading material of my own, using my own photographs and text. I designed them in comic book style, to appeal to a wider audience, and aimed the text at the Entry level 1 and 2 ESOL learner.

The Liz and Joe series is very popular with my students, who enjoy following the same characters, seeing different aspects of their lives and comparing everyday situations with their own.
It is exciting and rewarding to have them published by Gatehouse Books.

It was Thursday and people were starting to wake up
and get ready for work.

a long walk with Liz, as part of her birthday celebrations, before her evening party.
