"A Candle and a Prayer" was a Covid 19 collabortion project on line with the authorand a child illustrator. It is unique because it was a third grder who illustrated the book with an adult author. This book teaches core Christian manners and values for young children.

There was a time when Eileen would have a pen and pad next to her night table and would write her dreams or any ideas that came to her during the night. One morning, Eileen noticed a candle and a prayer written on her notepad. She did not know what it meant. She prayed and asked God for clarification. One day her grandson, Andrew, who was four, spent a day with his grandparents. Eileen finished preparing lunch and asked Andrew to set the table and put the candle on the table. The three of them sat at the table and Andrew said the blessing. That statement, “Put the candle on the table” sounded familiar to her. Eileen prayed and asked God if that had any meaning. God told her, “I gave you the title.” Eileen decided to write a Christian children’s book. Her book is about a young boy who spends time with his grandparents while his parents are at work. The book teaches basic table setting. The child will be able to identify and place each piece needed for a perfect table setting. A blessing is said before eating each meal.

She is currently in the third grade at Plumstead Christian School and enjoys spending time with her loved ones, as well as soaking up the sun at the beach. Aubrey’s hard work and dedication were instrumental in bringing this book to life.

I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the late Mildred Ethel Kloepper, who was a devoted wife and mother to three daughters. Her family recited a blessing at each meal, passed down to her six grandchildren. Denice, one of her granddaughters, graciously shared this blessing with me when she learned of my project on the proper way to set the table. I am deeply grateful for her generosity.
