Do you believe in magic? Some children don’t believe in magic; they think magic and miracles ran out many years ago. What if miracles and magic are not unexplained things that happen around us? What if they’re the faith we have within us? The ability to believe in ourselves may be the most wondrous magic we will ever possess and the most fantastic miracle we will ever see.
Addison sat cross-legged on top of her unicorn bedspread and looked at herself in the mirror that sat on her pink and white dresser. Addison laughed at her reflection. Addison’s unicorn sleep mask was pulled up and resting on the top of her head. The single horn stood on the top of her head, making her look like a unicorn. Addison’s unicorn pajamas also made her look like a unicorn.
On the wall behind her, Addison could see her unicorn poster. The poster had a white unicorn dancing on its back legs. The unicorn’s mane was rainbow-colored, as was the single horn mounted on top of its head. Stars and sparklers lit up the sky behind the unicorn. A caption above the unicorn read, “Do you believe in unicorns?”
As Addison gazed at her dresser, she noticed the white unicorn statue her grandparents gave her for her last birthday. The white unicorn had a golden mane, tail, hooves, and a single golden horn sitting proudly on its head. The statue had the unicorn posed with its front feet pawing in the air. On the base of the unicorn statue was a caption that read, “Unicorn dance.” When you pushed a button on the bottom of the figure, the unicorn would slowly spin around.
Addison had filled her room with unicorn furnishings. She placed a unicorn rug at the side of her bed. This unicorn posed in a field of flowers, with birds and bees flying around it. This caption reads, “Happy unicorn day.” Addison had a unicorn backpack on her wall that she took to school. The backpack had unicorns posed in dancing positions all over the front. Addison loved unicorns.
Addison reached over to her white and pink nightstand and picked up her blue ukulele covered with white tropical flowers. Addison then reached over, grabbed her notepad and pencil, and placed them on the bed beside her. Addison began to strum her ukulele and sing. “I am a unicorn, and I come from France. I am a unicorn, and I love to dance,” sang Addison as she strummed her ukulele. Addison put her ukulele down and wrote the first line of her unicorn song on her notepad.
Addison picked up her ukulele and started to sing again. “I am a unicorn, and I come from France. I am a unicorn, and I love to dance. I am a unicorn with just one horn. I am a unicorn, and I eat popcorn.” Addison placed her ukulele on her bed and picked up her notepad again. She wrote down the second line to her unicorn song.
