Testimonials
Adorfalina & The Gift of Self-Confidence by Adrianne Carlino Gentile is a very delightful story that is quite timely as it addresses a very critical issue of our time – developing self-confidence in our children. Adrianne tackles this issue in multiple layers that will pique the interest of its reader. One Angel helping one human who helps another by instilling the magic of self-confidence to overcome bitterness, hatred, prejudice, stereotypes, meanness, and bullying. This is a message of helping ourselves to likewise help others confront their own lack of self-confidence. Self-confidence can be shared with courage and kindness. As a result of this story, the message can be spread as intended.
I wholeheartedly endorse this book and encourage it to be made available to all children, school libraries, public libraries, parent’s libraries to be read over and over as it captures the child’s imagination to promote endless possibilities.
R.L Shannon, Ph.D. (retired) worked 45 years as a child psychologist involved intensively with mental health issues of thousands of our hurting children.
As an artist, painter, sculpture, writer, philanthropist, parent, and friend, my personal experience as a mother brushes tenderly alongside the theme of adorfalina. I believe we must nurture self-confidence in our children so we can all live with acceptance of each other to make our world a better place.

A Word from the Author
Adorfalina and The Gift of Self-Confidence has evolved over many years. It started out as a story about a little Angel working in Thiamus The Tailor’s Shop who was afraid to fly but as time passed and my children grew, I became more aware of bullying in school. How could this bullying be stopped? Why do children grow up to be unkind to others? I wondered, and so did my character, Adorfalina.
Then one day our family was blessed with the birth of our first granddaughter, a little girl born with Down syndrome. Our lives were changed forever. Sara took a bit longer to learn the things that other children could acquire instinctively. We had to stimulate her tongue for easier feeding and exercise her little muscles to prepare her for walking. We taught her sign language so she could communicate as soon as possible. Sara would eat anything as long as it was mixed with yogurt. She was and is still such a bright light in our lives.
Sara has taught us patience and kindness. She doesn’t judge others by their appearance. She’s got a wonderful and fun-loving personality. And one of the most interesting traits is her ability to communicate with those souls on the other side. That’s right! Sara gets messages from the Angels.
So, what a perfect mix I have found, an Angel on Earth and one above the billowy clouds to work together teaching their friends how to cooperate with each other, learning to be kind, and giving each other self-confidence to rid their world of bullying. As the kids behave better, their parents will see how much happier life can be and follow in the same example.
I hope you enjoy this story and help rid the world of bullying quicker than you can turn to the next page. Which I hope you will do!

I would first like to thank my husband, Joe, for the many years of listening to my dreams, stories, poems, and always giving me sound advice.
Dr. Carol Altman Zaslowsky, thank you for your encouraging words and helping me find the perfect illustrator.
I am so grateful for Beti Kristof-Mohn, fine artist and illustrator. She shared my dream and made my characters come to life.
I was blessed the day Sharon Beilman asked me to tell her more about a story I had written and if she could read it. Little did I know, she was an editor. She not only prompted me to publish it, but she became my editor. Serendipity!
And finally, my wonderful grandson, Andrew Beldy, Jr., who helped me with all the technical aspects and also some musical ideas I have in mind for Band Together.

ADORFALINA & THE GIFT Of SELF-CONFIDENCE by Adrianne Carlino Gentile©
Chapter 1 The Land of Aura
High in the billowy white clouds, beyond the tops of twisting black tornadoes, and far above thunder and lightning is an extraordinary place called The Land of Aura. It is where all the Angels exist.

Usually Aura was a peaceful place, but not at this moment. Bells were ringing and clanging, loudly reminding all Angels of a most important meeting. It would take place at The Crystal Palace in The Great Hall of Makamindup and was concerning an urgent matter happening on Earth. Humans were not getting along with each other at all. They were fighting and bullying and things were getting very nasty.
Adorfalina, Angel-in-Training, heard the clamoring and buzzing traffic of thousands of Angels coming from all parts of Aura to attend the meeting and rushed to get herself ready. She worked at The Celestial Post Office, which was located on a cloud of its own. It was very busy as usual. Adorfalina finished bundling up a chubby baby for special delivery to Earth. “Shh,” she said, pressing her finger on the baby’s top lip, making a little indentation there just like the one you have on your top lip.
