Thanks and love to:
George, for his “you can do it!”
Brian, for having faith in me,
Geri, for her love of all animals, and
Johnny Ponder, for just being him!
N ot so long ago, there was a small village named Critterville. Many mice families occupied Critterville. In one of these families lives a little white mouse named Kanouse.
Every day the little mouse would sit at his window and watch the other mice kids go to school in the yellow bus. Kanouse longed for the day when he could ride the bus too.
Finally the day came! He woke up early, washed his face, brushed his teeth, and then went downstairs to the kitchen where his mother had made his favorite breakfast. He had waffles with syrup, apples, and milk to drink. As he ate, his mother talked to him. “Kanouse, my son,” she said, “you are about to go on a great adventure. School is fun. You will learn lots of interesting things. There may also be some things that may make you feel bad. Other kids may say or do things that you do not understand. If that does happen, all you have to do is be yourself and remember, my little man, that I love you very much.”
