Description

In this story of unconditional love, an older sister shares an important lesson with her younger sister about how to stay safe and protect herself from strangers.
Kaliyah takes her role as older sister very seriously because she loves her younger sister, Jazzy, more than anything in the world. Now that Jazzy is about to start school, Kaliyah realizes it is time to teach her about personal safety.
As Kaliyah instructs her sister what to do if a stranger asks her to pet his puppy, offers her a free backpack, tries to give her candy or a ride, or follows her in the park, she helps empower Jazzy to not only recognize the potential dangers, but also how to protect herself from people she does not know.
Kaliyah’s Lesson shares an important message for children about how to stay safe and protect themselves from strangers.

Kaliyah leaves her treehouse with a great idea to keep her sister safe. She climbs down the ladder, then looks around the backyard for Jazzy. She’s walking Prudence by the back fence. Kaliyah approaches Jazzy, “There you are, Jazzy.” “Hello Prudence.”
Jazzy is enthusiastic about animals, and occasionally very headstrong. She adores her environment. Jazzy takes Prudence for at least 15 daily walks. Prudence cheerfully approaches Kaliyah while wearing her fluffy white coat. Jazzy greets Kaliyah as she steadily holds the leash. “What is going on?”
“Most children don’t know how to respond if danger approaches,” says Kaliyah. “You must train your eyes and practice being quick on your feet.” Kaliyah imagines a scenario at the park. A dangerous stranger and his puppy appear. She sternly asks, “This is a serious matter, Jazzy; what would you do if a stranger asked you to pet his puppy?”
