The Amazing, Marvelous Milly woke up to the sound of the babbling brook just outside of her flower. She opened her arms wide for a great big stretch, causing the petals of her flower to open as well. As they widened, the morning breeze swept across Milly’s face.
She tiptoed past other stirring shimmers and headed towards her favorite quiet place on the hill overlooking Shimmer Valley. Whispering a prayer of appreciation to Papa for setting her free, she remembered what it felt like to be trapped in her flower and the joy of being rescued and finding her new family in Papa’s Village.
When Milly reached the top of the hill, she stopped to appreciate the beauty of Shimmer Valley. The colors were magnificent, and it always smelled like sweet gardenias and lemon cakes. Milly breathed in as much of the fragrant air as her lungs could hold and smiled.
As she stood there enjoying the warm sunshine on her skin, from out of nowhere a deep horn blast disrupted the silence. Milly jumped as a summons call rang throughout Papa’s Village. Immediately the other shimmers began heading to the Gathering Place.
Milly rushed down the hill to catch up with the other shimmers. The Gathering Place was a peaceful outdoor grassy area located in the center of the village where all their town hall meetings happened. The shimmers entered through a garden path lined with all kinds of beautiful flowers. They took seats on stone benches arranged in the shape of a horseshoe. Milly looked around to see what the excitement was about. That is when she saw him.
