Epilogue
When Keesja was about 5 years old she said “dad -can I go to school? I replied “But you are going to school you are going to kindergarten”.
That’s not a school; they make us play games and sleep in the afternoon. Who wants to sleep on a hard floor, I want to learn arithmetic and other things.
Where did you learn that?
Taniele showed me the tricks you showed her on how to multiply large numbers together. I can multiply 73 times 77 and get 5621. I can’t quite pronounce the number but I can write it down.
What brought this on you usually are so busy swimming, drawing, and reading you don’t even have time to eat or sleep.
I was thinking about the eight witches’ story and about poor Raina, she only seems to do things one or two days a year. What happens to her the rest of the year? Is she like beauty queens or models who only live while on stage or showing off their new clothes? I prefer sports for when you’re not playing you can be training and learning how to play better.
I was stumped for a moment, then I asked if she wanted to create a new story about what Raina was doing the rest of the year. Her response got Taniele involved, for Allira was too busy being a high school; student, and Chivonne was always singing operettas.
Keesja spoke to Taniele, and we agreed that the three of us would work out what Raina did the rest of the year. So this is the story of Raina.
Chapter One
Every sentient being had visited when she was born. They were not used to human babies, as she was the first human baby born in Imagom. They all thought she was severely handicapped, and they gave her many gifts so that she could live a normal life. After the excitement of the birth, the inhabitants who had very busy lives went back to their normal activities, the knights practicing their fighting skills, the young ogres went back to learning table manners, leprechauns kept trying to pretend they were really dwarfs and did not know the location of any treasures. The dwarfs kept digging tunnels to try and find it, and the green goblins who had started the rumor about the treasure just sat back and drank ale trying to come up with another crafty spoof. (As an aside. they wanted to go to California with some of their sentient-dressed cats and dogs and start a movement to put clothes on all small pets) The arrival of the new rumor about Raina put this on hold, but many years later a number of architecture students at Berkeley started this spoof and it still going on today.
Some of the younger witches had gone to visit Raina, and supposedly report that she was eating, sitting up, and even muttering some noises, which Anita the queen swore were the words, Mama Papa, But considering that Raina was only three months old we will ignore a mothers pride. Even if she was the queen.
