Roman is one of Joyce Mullan’s puppies and has travelled to Alaska to make his home with new owners, Al and Renee. Roman wants to tell you all about the true and amazing story of the exciting life he leads in Anchorage, Alaska. He has experienced animals of all kinds—like Black and Brown Bear, Red Fox, and Dall Sheep —along with rivers, lakes, and mountains.
He gets to go on adventures in meadows, parks, ice caves, and cars. Roman has never been bored in his life and is happy to be a brave Standard Schnauzer dog.
Roman doesn’t take much time to relax because there are always so many exciting things to do! He has playtime with his dog buddies. He goes fishing and boating with Al and Renee. He hikes trails and climbs Alaska’s massive mountains. Roman is a special dog that lives a special life, all with the help of loving owners and the incredible wild world of Alaska.

Dedications
For more than 3-1/2 years, I have been writing Roman’s story about his true and amazing life in Alaska. My personal goal was to have Roman tell his exciting story to children and share his unique life experiences with them about some unique birds, flowers, and animal life found only in Alaska. My family members, friends, and Standard Schnauzer Breeders have encouraged me to fulfill my dream to have Roman share his life story especially to children.

First, I want to thank and dedicate this book to my loving and devoted Husband, Richard Clarke, for being my Right and Left Hands in assisting me in raising seven litters of Standard Schnauzer puppies for a total of 30 beautiful Standard Schnauzer puppies in 11 years. Richard helped me train and care for each of these puppies; together, we now have 30 families who are considered Extended Family Members. For over 15 years, the most important part of this dog business was spending many, many hours of socializing and training our puppies. My personal mission is to give each family one of the best dogs they have ever owned. Richard has always been by my side in everything we have accomplished for our puppies and their families.

Second, I want to thank and deeply dedicate this book to both Alton L. and Renee Freeman Gilbert, Owners of Roman in Alaska. Each and every day, Al and Renee created an incredible life for Roman. In addition, by Renee being an outstanding Photographer, she was able to capture all of their experiences on camera when hiking valleys and mountains; camping; discovering unique birds, flowers, and animals; fishing in boats and on shore; exploring ice caves; and many other activities with Roman in their daily outdoor adventures in Alaska. Alton L. and Renee Freeman Gilbert have given me Copyright permission to place Renee’s photographs of Alaska in this book. Without the Gilberts owning Roman and Renee’s permission to me to use her photographs, this book would never have existed.

Third, I want to thank and dedicate this book to my Mentor, Renee Pope, who has given me invaluable advice, information, and provided Stud Service for my female Standard Schnauzers. I have always been able to trust Renee’s advice, and I am very grateful for her information to help me raise and train my Standard Schnauzers to better my dog business. Renee is an expert with the Standard Schnauzer Dog and has been in this Canine Business for over 51 years.

Fourth, I want to thank and dedicate this book to my personal Attorney, Geoffrey Wm. Steele, for providing his expert legal review and approval of Roman’s true and amazing story in Alaska.
