Description

This incomparable, bilingual children’s book, written in English and Spanish, is specifically targeted to children, Ages 7 – 12, but, without question, it is a delightful book that the entire family will enjoy. Based on real life when Dr. Ryan’s youngest child was eight years old, the author has created a fictionalized account of the incident in an enchanting story involving the dynamic main character with his electric blue eyes, his two charming friends, their affection for dogs, and their love for music.
This book is a sequel to the last book, Thaddeus, Keep Your Eye on the Ball. [!Tadeo, mantén el ojo en la pelota!] The main character is an 8 year old boy, based on the character of the author's son at that age.
Written in English and Spanish, it features an imaginary trip to the island of Martha's Vineyard. HIs friends go along on the adventure sprinkled with a little history. This is fun for the whole family and a great way to learn Spanish.

Prologue

Let’s Take a Quick Look Back

At the First Story About Me,

Thaddeus, Keep Your Eye on the Ball!

¡Tadeo, mantén el ojo en la pelota!

Prologue in English
Have you ever ridden a unicycle? Not long ago, I went on a trip with my family from my home in Tequesta, Florida to Boston, Massachusetts. One of our first stops was the famous Quincy Market where I rode my unicycle backwards and forwards, and at the same time, I juggled purple, green, yellow and blue juggling pins. A bunch of people cheered for me. I felt like a superhero! My mommy says that I have ELECTRIC blue eyes. I am not sure exactly what that means, but I know for sure that my favorite color is blue. I wear blue almost all of the time.
My name is Thaddeus, but I am also called Thad. I really love my family and my special friends, Lily and Matt. We are all eight years old, and we all have dogs that we rescued from a shelter. We love to read books, and we also play musical instruments in our own band. My friends are bilingual. They speak two languages, English and Spanish. I study Spanish because I want to be BILINGUAL when I grow up. Am I a NERD? Maybe, but speaking Spanish is really cool!
My mommy is a doctor of education. She teaches college students in the office at our house. Mommy wants to work at home to be near our family because Daddy is away from home a lot. He travels to China and Japan on the High Seas. He is the captain of a huge ship that brings cell phones to the United States, along with computers, video games, and much more.
My daddy is very cool. He taught me how to play baseball. I did not realize that I could not catch a ball for beans. Daddy said, “ Thaddeus, keep your eye on the ball!” You will not believe what I did after Daddy said that to me three times. Well, if you want to know and also have a good laugh, you can read the first book of this series by that title, Thaddeus, Keep your Eye on the Ball!
Mommy and Daddy taught me about IDIOMS. At times, IDIOMS can be weird, but at other times, they an be comical and fascinating! Do you know what IDIOMS are? If not, you will learn about them in all the books about me, Thaddeus. And I hope you enjoy this next story here about how much fun I had on the Flying Horses.

Prólogo en Español
Jamás has montado un monciclo?

And Now Let’s Begin the Second Story

About Me,

Thaddeus, Hold Your Horses!

¡Tadeo, Controla Tus Caballos!

“Rise and Shine, Thaddeus!” Thad is relaxing in bed one Saturday morning. He hears his older sister Joy as she calls him to wake up. Joy attends Brown University in Rhode island, but she is home now on her spring break. Thaddeus is enjoying the fact that he does not need to get up early to go to school. He likes school very much, but he also loves to sleep late on weekends and then daydream a bit before he gets out of bed. On this day he is thinking about his favorite superhero Robin, one part of the Dynamic Duo known as Batman and Robin. Batman calls Robin, The Boy Wonder.

Batman llama a Robin, El C hico Maravilla.
